Lisa Loar
Biography
Lisa Loar serves as the Senior Associate Dean and Director of Student Support Services at Brown University, a role she assumed in July 2025.
With more than 15 years of experience in higher education and health services, Lisa has led cross-functional teams, developed innovative student support systems, and championed equity and inclusion – all in service of building an inclusive culture of care and well-being for students. Lisa understands that when a person feels valued, respected, and has a sense of belonging, they are better able to tap into deeper learning and creativity in the educational space.
Before joining Brown, Lisa was the founding Director of the Center for Care & Resilience at the University of Tennessee, where she launched a flagship wellness initiative designed to serve as a centralized resource for student support and outreach. She previously served as Director of Health and Counseling Services at SUNY Binghamton, overseeing the University’s health services, counseling center, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Lisa’s career also includes leadership roles as Integrated Outpatient Services Director at Helio Health in Syracuse, NY, and Director of the Undergraduate Human Services Program at Johnson University.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys biking, cooking, gardening, the performing arts, snow sports, watching the VOLS, and spending time with her family and two dogs.
