For Student Peers

Learn how to recognize concerns, offer support, and connect a classmate with the help they may need.

As a fellow student, you may be one of the first to notice when a friend or classmate is struggling. Whether it’s a change in behavior, a friend who seems overwhelmed, or a peer facing a difficult situation, your concern and willingness to help can have a real impact.

At Student Support Services, we provide non-clinical, individualized support to students navigating a wide range of challenges—mental or physical health concerns, family emergencies, academic stress, and more. If you're worried about someone, you don’t have to figure out what to do alone.

We’re here to consult with you, help you think through next steps, and, when appropriate, reach out to the student with care and support. If you're unsure whether to say something or need help knowing how to approach a situation, we can help you navigate that, too.

How You Can Help

  • Notice changes in a friend’s behavior, mood, or engagement
  • Reach out to show support and let them know you care
  • Refer them to Student Support Services or other campus resources
  • Consult with us if you're unsure how to help or what to do next
